Medical cannabis cultivation in Switzerland
The Swiss sector also includes licensed medical cannabis production. An overview of responsibilities, authorisations and verifiable evidence, without therapeutic claims.
A separately regulated area
Medical cultivation is not limited to low-THC hemp. Production for medical purposes falls under Swissmedic’s licensing and supervision system. This is not general permission for private or non-medical cultivation.
Operating licences and individual cultivation authorisations
Swissmedic distinguishes operating licences for medical cultivation from individual cultivation authorisations. The latter require, among other things, traceability, quality assurance and a written purchase agreement. Further licences depend on the activity and supply chain.
What evidence actually establishes
Check the scope of an authorisation. A company website, membership or product name is no substitute. We publish no invented producer directory and infer no approval from ecosystem membership.
Equipment is not evidence of approval
Professional operators must assess equipment within their own regulatory and quality frameworks. Planned categories are neither a validated production system nor a promise of product compliance.
Responsibilities, not therapeutic promises
We explain the sector and its framework. We offer no cannabis medicines, medical advice or efficacy assurances. Binding requirements come from current Swissmedic documents and the relevant authorities.
